Prof. Halil \u0130nalc\u0131k, founder of the Department of History, was commemorated on the 10th anniversary of his passing at a HICOS seminar held on Thursday, October 1. Prof. \u00d6zer Ergen\u00e7 gave a talk titled \u201c\u00d6\u011frencisi \u00d6zer Ergen\u00e7\u2019in Anlat\u0131m\u0131yla Halil \u0130nalc\u0131k (\u201cHalil \u0130nalc\u0131k as Told by His Student \u00d6zer Ergen\u00e7\u201d) in the C-Block Auditorium. The talk was one of a series of conferences marking the anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. \u0130nalc\u0131k, a professor of Ottoman history at Bilkent since 1993, passed away on July 25, 2016. One of the most prominent historians of the Ottoman Empire, he published hundreds of scholarly works and received numerous honorary doctorates over his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
