The 19th Turkish Kendo Championship was held on October 3\u20134 at the Dormitories Sports Hall, bringing together more than 90 athletes from kendo clubs in \u0130stanbul, Ankara, \u0130zmir, Antalya and other cities. It opened on Friday, October 2, with a welcome practice that included visiting instructors from abroad, who took part as guest instructors. Competitions ran in six categories over the weekend\u2014individual events on Saturday, team events on Sunday\u2014and closed with Dan grading examinations. Bilkent alumnus Umut Cansu (EE) and \u0130sa Ard\u0131\u00e7, a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry, passed their first Dan examinations.
