On Sunday, October 25, nearly 350 runners, joggers and walkers gathered at the starting line in front of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts for the 1,923-meter Republic Run. Held to mark the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, this year\u2019s run also served a special purpose: supporting the education of Bilkent students in need of financial assistance. Participants included Bilkenters of all ages, as well as friends and guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the initiative, volunteer faculty members set up personal donation pages and took part in the run to raise support for students: Prof. Yasemin Afacan, Prof. Selim Aksoy, Assoc. Prof. Arma\u011fan Ate\u015fkan, Prof. H\u00fcseyin Boyac\u0131, Assoc. Prof. Ay\u015fe Collins, Dr. Erkan U\u00e7ar and Assoc. Prof. Firdevs Ulus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route took the competitors from the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts to the Stadium. Donations collected during the run will go toward scholarships for students in financial need, part of the University’s commitment to solidarity and equal opportunity. Following the race, an award ceremony took place, with the winners receiving trophies. Students who completed the run received their GE 250\/251 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
