April 3rd marks the 108th anniversary of the birth of Bilkent University\u2019s beloved founder, Prof. \u0130hsan Do\u011framac\u0131. Each year Bilkent celebrates Prof. Do\u011framac\u0131\u2019s birthday as Bilkent Day, honoring his memory with deepest respect and affection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year Bilkent Day includes two main events: the Bilkent Day Conference and a celebratory concert by the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. Both take place on April 3<\/strong>, at the Bilkent Concert Hall in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2023 Bilkent Day Conference starts at 3 p.m. <\/strong>Prof. G\u00fclsev Kale, Board of Trustees Chair, will make an opening speech, and Rector Prof. K\u00fcr\u015fat Aydo\u011fan will make a presentation on \u201cBilkent 2023.\u201d The program will continue with a conference by Prof. Polat G\u00fclkan from Ba\u015fkent University Department of Civil Engineering, titled \u201cAn Engineer\u2019s Idle Thoughts on the Prediction of Earthquakes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The celebration of Bilkent Day will conclude with a special concert by the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. The performance begins at 8 p.m.<\/strong>, with G\u00fcrer Aykal as conductor and G\u00fclsin Onay as piano soloist.
