The architect of the project was Erkut \u015eahinba\u015f. Upon completion of the construction on October 10, 1991, the Do\u011framac\u0131 Family donated the building to the \u0130hsan Do\u011framac\u0131 Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/bilkentnews.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1137_2023-05-26.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4934\" width=\"496\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bilkentnews.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1137_2023-05-26.jpg 992w, https:\/\/bilkentnews.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1137_2023-05-26-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bilkentnews.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1137_2023-05-26-768x461.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The residence was to be maintained as long as \u0130hsan and Ayser Do\u011framac\u0131 were alive and utilized by the foundation after their death. The Do\u011framac\u0131 family lived in the upper floor of the residence between 1991 and 2018, while the lower floors of the residence hosted scientific, cultural, artistic and social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the words of Rector K\u00fcr\u015fat Aydo\u011fan, \u201cThis building has witnessed history as a host to local and foreign dignitaries, scientists, artists, business people and Hocabey\u2019s own friends. Following the death of Ayser Do\u011framac\u0131 in 2018, the \u0130hsan Do\u011framac\u0131 Foundation and Bilkent University signed a protocol and agreed that the residence would become the \u0130hsan and Ayser Do\u011framac\u0131 Center for Science, Culture and Arts as a venue to host various events, including some graduate courses in its specially designed lecture hall. The building is partially renovated to display works of art like paintings, tiles, vases, sculptures and personal belongings of the Do\u011framac\u0131 family.
