November 10, 2024, marked the 86th anniversary of the passing of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s beloved Atat\u00fcrk. Bilkent University commemorated the solemn occasion over the course of two days with several events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On November 9, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Murat Cem Orhan and featuring \u00c7a\u011f Er\u00e7a\u011f on violoncello, along with the TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Choir, conducted by Elnara Kerimova, and soloists \u00c7\u0131nar Onur \u00d6ner (tenor) and Semih A\u015f\u0131k (baritone), presented a concert in memory of Atat\u00fcrk. The performance, held at the Bilkent Concert Hall, featured works by <\/p>\n\n\n\n
M. Cetiz and G. Puccini. On the morning of Sunday, November 10, members of the Bilkent community gathered at Bilkent\u2019s Atat\u00fcrk Monument to observe a moment of silence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A ceremony took place at Mithat \u00c7oruh Auditorium on Monday, November 11. It began with a moment of silence and the national anthem, followed by a mini concert performed by the Bilkent Youth Quartet. Next, students Enda G\u00f6l (IE), Elif Lal Karao\u011flu (IE), Ece Tabuk (ECON), Defne U\u011fur (ECON) and Nil Uzel (IAED) presented their HIST200 project, \u201cThe Development of Archaeology in T\u00fcrkiye during Atat\u00fcrk and the Early Years of the Republic.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following this, Asst. Prof. P\u0131nar Sezginalp, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, gave a presentation titled \u201cA Representation of the Republic: Atat\u00fcrk\u2019s Presidential Residence.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During her talk, Dr. Sezginalp focused on the presidential residences of Atat\u00fcrk and commemorated and revived Atat\u00fcrk\u2019s legacy on modernization and westernization within the \u201cideal\u201d spaces. Dr. Sezginalp presented the presidential \u201cresidence\u201d of Atat\u00fcrk as the abstract and concrete pure finalization of this modernistic architectural production of Ankara, which is the representation of the Republic. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
