On December 10\u201311, engineering students enrolled in \u201cIntroduction to Science Technology and Society\u201d (GE 301) attended the lecture \u201cEthics and Explainability in Artificial Intelligence: An Engineering Perspective,\u201d delivered by Duran Do\u011fukan Kayg\u0131s\u0131z. The event was hosted as part of an ongoing collaboration with F\u0130GES A.\u015e., the Turkish distributor of MATLAB and Simulink, in an effort to integrate industry insights into academic learning. Mr. Kayg\u0131s\u0131z, an AI and Machine Learning Engineer at F\u0130GES, provided an overview of different approaches to machine learning and emphasized the importance of interpretability and explainability. He emphasized how these attributes are essential for building trust in AI applications, particularly in fields where ethical considerations and transparency are paramount. The seminar ended with a live demonstration on object detection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
