The 27th Career Fair was held at Bilkent University\u2019s Main Campus Sports Hall on February 19 and 20, attracting over 5,500 students. The event hosted human resources professionals and unit managers from 80 major corporations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized annually by the Career and Alumni Office, the Career Fair offers Bilkent students the opportunity to learn about companies\u2019 recruitment policies, internship programs, sectors and fields of activity. It also allows them to register in talent pools, expand their professional networks and shape their career plans, even before graduation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We asked students about the best career advice they have received so far: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are always different areas in law that we need to develop and in which to specialize. Regardless of our age, we must keep up with emerging technologies and continuously improve ourselves through education. I received this advice from my mentors during my internship and also from my family.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA professor I deeply admired at Bilkent once advised me that even if I knew what I wanted, I needed to explore different fields to better understand what I didn’t like.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe best career advice I have received is: \u2018Don\u2019t confine yourself to a single mold; don\u2019t be afraid to explore different fields.\u2019 Following this advice, I expanded my education with additional open university and minor programs alongside my undergraduate studies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also gained internship and trainee engineer experiences in various industries.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Don\u2019t let your strengths cast a shadow over you.\u2019 One of my managers at my current workplace gave me this advice, and it taught me not to focus solely on my strengths but also to work on my weaknesses and step out of my comfort zone.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dilara Mand\u0131rac\u0131 (CS\/IV) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the most valuable pieces of advice I have ever received is: \u2018It\u2019s not your starting point, but your progress that takes you forward.\u2019 When I first started studying CS, all the concepts were new to me. Seeing people around me who were much more knowledgeable made me feel like I was starting from behind. However, what truly matters is not where you begin but how you progress and where you end up. Thinking this way has helped me move forward, and I am very happy about the progress I have made.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
