On Friday, April 18, Bilkent University hosted the seminar \u201cAI in Education: From Stochastic Parrots to Synergistic Partners\u201d led by Prof. Mutlu \u00c7ukurova, Professor of Learning and Artificial Intelligence at University College London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. \u00c7ukurova explored how AI can function as tools, cognitive models and collaborative agents in education. The seminar, organized by the Teaching and Learning Support Center, examined the promises and limitations of generative AI in supporting both teaching practices and student learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also addressed critical concerns surrounding ethics, human agency and systemic inequalities in education. Drawing on his research in multimodal learning analytics and human-AI hybrid intelligence, Prof. \u00c7ukurova advocated for AI systems that enhance human competence, support lifelong learning and align with broader societal values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
