Asst. Prof. Efe Alpay of the Department of Graphic Design recently presented his Mnemonic Data Sculptures at Art Basel Miami 2024 and RenderCon Hollywood 2025, continuing his exploration of transforming sound data into physical-digital forms. At Art Basel Miami, held December 6\u20138, 2024, Alpay showcased \u201cA Giant Leap,\u201d a sculptural piece based on Neil Armstrong\u2019s first words on the moon.  <\/p>\n\n\n

The work used FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) and generative design techniques to merge auditory history with visual form. His exhibition at Art Basel further solidified his growing prominence in the art world, following his Lumen Prize shortlist. At RenderCon Hollywood, on April 15, 2025, Alpay\u2019s works, including \u201cThe Golden Dichotomy\u201d and a second presentation of \u201cA Giant Leap,\u201d integrated GPU-accelerated rendering and blockchain-based systems.
