The Department of Mathematics has a long tradition of honoring outstanding undergraduate and graduate mathematics students through the annual Orhan Alisbah Mathematics Awards, supported by the generous contributions of the Alisbah family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two students, Yusuf \u0130sa Dural (MATH\/IV) and Farzad Shahi (MATH\/PhD), received this year\u2019s Orhan Alisbah Fellowships at a ceremony that took place in the Department of Mathematics lobby on December 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fellowships are conferred annually in memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah (1910\u20131989), one of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s best-known mathematicians, and his son Bilsel Alisbah (1937\u20132017), former lecturer at Bilkent University.
