The 13th annual Model United Nations Bilkent University (MUNBU) Conference, organized by the Bilkent University Model United Nations Society, was held January 17–20 at Bilkent University. As one of Türkiye’s leading university-level Model United Nations conferences, MUNBU is widely recognized for its academic excellence, realistic committee structures and high procedural standards.
MUNBU 2026 brought together approximately 500 delegates and a total of 700 participants from across Türkiye as well as from several international institutions. The conference hosted 10 committees designed to closely reflect real-world diplomatic, political and institutional processes.
The opening remarks were delivered by Rector Prof. Kürşat Aydoğan, who introduced Bilkent University and shared insights on the activities of the Bilkent University Model United Nations Society.
As part of the MUNBU 2026 program, the conference hosted the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Türkiye, Dr. Babatunde A. Ahonsi, and the Director of the ILO Office for Türkiye, Mr. Yasser Ahmed Hassan. A panel discussion was held and moderated by Director General Aslı Erdoğan and Secretary General Zehra Yıldırım, during which frequently asked questions from delegates regarding the United Nations and recent dynamics in global politics were addressed by the guest speakers.
MUNBU 2026 concluded successfully, offering participants a comprehensive academic and practical experience in international relations, diplomacy and global governance.
