The Artificial Intelligence Society (Bilkent Yapay Zeka Topluluğu) will host a special alumni panel on December 5, featuring leading AI experts from top global companies, including OpenAI, NVIDIA, Google, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, Meta, and IBM. The event will run from
7 to 9 p.m. at FADA, FFB-22, and is open to Bilkent alumni, students and faculty.
Organized in collaboration with Global Turks AI, this gathering will celebrate Bilkent’s role in advancing AI and provide attendees with insights into cutting-edge AI developments, research challenges and entrepreneurial opportunities. Panelists will share their journeys, discuss generative AI breakthroughs, explore unresolved research problems and offer perspectives on AI commercialization. There will also be a collaborative brainstorming session to help strengthen Türkiye’s AI ecosystem.
The event will feature in-depth fireside chats with industry leaders, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with some of the brightest minds in AI. Most of the panelists, due to their commitments abroad, will join the event online, reflecting its global nature. Global Turks AI, which aims to position Türkiye as a global leader in AI, has partnered with Bilkent as its first collaborator in the country. The initiative plans to host similar events at top universities worldwide, including Stanford, MIT, and Oxford.
The event will begin with an opening speech by Rector Prof. Kürşat Aydoğan. Additionally, many professors from the Faculty of Engineering and other faculties have been invited, further emphasizing the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of this landmark event.
The panel will include esteemed Bilkent alumni such as Halit Akar, N. Murat Arar, Sercan Arık, Türker Coşkun and many others, whose contributions to AI continue to inspire innovation across the industry.
