The Department of Performing Arts premieres the first senior graduation project of the 2025–26 academic year: “No Exit,” the influential existential drama by Jean-Paul Sartre, directed by Jason Hale, chair of the department.
The play follows three characters, Garcin, Inez and Estelle, who find themselves locked together in a room after death, with no escape and no relief from one another’s presence. As they confront their pasts and struggle under each other’s desires, judgments and confessions, they slowly realize that their torment is emotional rather than physical. This production highlights Sartre’s enduring insight that “hell is other people,” while exploring themes of identity, responsibility and the human search for meaning.
The cast features senior acting students Elif Ekizoğlu, Burak Toptaş, İrem Naz Aloğlu and junior student S. Yiğit Metin. Jason Hale designed both the lighting and set for this production. Music was composed by M. Ömür Tuncer. The production team includes Assistant Director Haydar Özkan, lighting operation by Soner Togan, photographs and media relations by Ayça Eren and technical assistance by Akın Çalışkan and the student technical crew.
