UNAM Develops High-performance Flexible Light-emitting Devices

Prof. Hilmi Volkan Demir (Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Department of Physics) and his team from the Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) developed high efficiency flexible light-emitting diodes based on self-assembled colloidal quantum well monolayers with remarkable mechanical robustness. These high efficiency flexible LEDs maintain their performance even after being bent hundreds of times. This innovative technology developed by Prof. Demir and his team holds significant potential to shape the future of foldable displays, wearable electronics, advanced lighting technologies and flexible display applications. Their study, titled “Flexible Colloidal Light-Emitting Diodes from Self-Assembled Quantum Well Monolayers,” was published in the Nature index journal SMALL (of Wiley publishing group) and highlighted on the journal’s frontispiece.
