Dr. N. Cihan Kayaçetin of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Prof. Yasemin Afacan, Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, led the first co-creation workshop for the Çankaya Bademlidere Park in the scope of the Urban-CoLLaR project. The workshop took place in December, at the Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Centre, Ankara. There was wide participation from national researchers and experts from Ankara Development Agency and Çankaya City Council, municipal decision makers and international experts from the Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Çankaya Municipality’s Bademlidere Cumhuriyet Park is one of four case study areas in the project. The workshop addressed participatory and inclusive decision-making mechanisms within the framework of circularity and sustainability. Experts combined Lego Serious Play and World Café techniques for enhanced engagement and participation. Specific challenges regarding resource and water efficiency were discussed together with potential solutions. The workshop is part of a series that will continue until mid-2027 with the aim to establish an urban living lab.
