The Department of Performing Arts staged its new production, “Open Couple,” as part of the Senior Project II. Directed by guest director Geoffrey Hyland, Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, the play will be performed at the Bilkent Theater Hall.
Additional performances are scheduled for April 16, 24 and 30, and May 7 at 8 p.m.
Performed in Turkish with English subtitles, “Open Couple” is an adaptation of Dario Fo and Franca Rame’s “Open Family.” A comic, fast-paced theatrical encounter, the play explores intimacy, power and the shifting dynamics of a contemporary relationship.
The production is translated by Barkın Kenan and co-directed by assistant director Damla Köse. It features Department of Performing Arts students İrem Naz Aloğlu, Elif Ekizoğlu and Burak Toptaş. Soner Toğan serves as technical director, with Akın Çalışkan as technical assistant and Eylül Gökdemir, Kayra Topal, Asya Akipek and Ceren Ekinci as the technical team.
The performance is 75 minutes with no intermission, recommended for ages 13 and above.
