The tenth edition of the “Turkish Writers at Bilkent” series was held on April 9, at the Library Art Gallery.
The conversation featured Sezin Romi, director of the Salt Library and Archives, and writer, educator and curator Vasıf Kortun. The event focused on the book “How Did We Get Here: Reading Vasıf Kortun,” which features an in-depth conversation between Romi and Kortun and explores Kortun’s artistic and intellectual creative processes.
Kortun touched upon the pedagogical approach he adopted during his teaching at the Department of Graphic Design at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture between 1990 and 1992. He also discussed the contributions Bilkent Library has made to teaching and research processes.
Additionally, thought-provoking insights were shared on how the language of artistic narratives shapes the experiences of art viewers as well as on the cultural and artistic environments and dynamics of Istanbul and Ankara.
