On April 16, SustainFest was held at the Spring Festival Area. The aim of the festival was to raise awareness about sustainability, waste management and eco-friendly practices.
A wide range of activities was offered throughout the day, including sports events, Radio Bilkent live broadcasts and music performances. Visitors participated in improvisational acting exercises, tango performances, Tai Chi sessions and breathing and meditation activities. The Tango community performed a tango dance on stage.
The festival also featured numerous workshops and stands focusing on sustainability. Participants engaged in upcycling with waste materials, practiced zero-waste kitchen methods and took part in recycling-based art activities and a carbon footprint quiz. Attendees explored food and drink stands as well as company booths promoting sustainable products and practices.
Opening and sustainability talks were delivered by Provost Prof. Orhan Aytür and Prof. Yasemin Afacan, dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, who provided insights into Bilkent University’s sustainability initiatives.
