Berire Üçpınar, a senior student at the Faculty of Law, and her team “Rock’n Law” were awarded the “Special Jury Prize” at the “Law-a-thon” competition, organized by ELSA İstanbul and hosted by İstanbul Bilgi University.
As part of the competition, the team developed an innovative software solution aimed at preventing corporate “greenwashing” risks. The system evaluates companies’ environmental claims from the perspectives of Turkish law and comparative law while analyzing potential legal violations, administrative sanctions and litigation processes.
The proposed solution particularly relies on the provisions of the Turkish Commercial Code and the Code of Civil Procedure as well as precedent climate litigation cases.
