IEEE Bilkent held the VOL-E’26 event on April 18–19, hosted by Özel Bilkent Malatya Laboratory Schools. Engineering students from Bilkent University came together with high school students in Malatya to introduce Bilkent, its engineering departments and the different fields of engineering.
Throughout the two-day event, students took part in hands-on laboratory activities and interactive sessions prepared for electrical and electronics, computer, mechanical and industrial engineering. Through mini lab activities designed separately for each engineering field, participants had the opportunity not only to gain theoretical knowledge but also to experience engineering problems in practice and take an active part in the solution process.
During the event, students were introduced to different engineering approaches such as circuits, coding, mechanical systems, production processes, optimization and problem-solving through practical activities. Through experiments, teamwork and interactive sessions, students could discover the engineering mindset, gain a clearer understanding of the different departments and see how engineering is reflected in everyday life.
Throughout VOL-E’26, participants experienced the value of learning, creating and sharing knowledge with high school students. The curiosity, active participation and interest in engineering shown by the participants were among the most valuable outcomes of the event.
