Student work from the Department of Communication and Design (COMD) was featured in “Communication Design from Around the World,” an international exhibition held at Curtin University’s Bentley campus in Western Australia from August 31 to September 11. Curated by Dr. Jo Li Tay of Curtin University, the exhibition brought together student work from 11 countries, with Bilkent as the only participating institution from Türkiye. The invitation followed a meeting between Dr. Tay and COMD faculty member Jülide Akşiyote Görür at a conference in Madrid this summer; Akşiyote Görür served as curator of the Bilkent selection.
The department contributed graphic design-related work produced in its studio courses: Visual Communication Design I and II (COMD 101 and 102), Principles of Visual Communication Design (COMD 212) and Visual Communication Project II (COMD 482). One work from each participating university was shown together in a satellite exhibition in the main lobby of Building 418, while the remaining works were displayed in the building’s exhibition space.
Further iterations of the exhibition are planned at Xi’an Eurasia University and at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław in early 2027.
