All Bilkenters are invited to PhilFest’22, Bilkent’s Philosophy Festival, on October 4 at the Spring Fest area. The event is organized by the Bilkent University’s Department of Philosophy, Bilkent Philosophical Society, Bilkent University Library and the Psychological Counseling and Development Center.
There will be presentation tables by scientific and philosophical associations and societies from different cities, such as the Society for Women in Philosophy in Turkey, Turkish Kant Society, Evrim Ağacı, Turkish Philosophy Foundation and Philosophy Art Science Association. There will also be book sales (with discounts) by many publishers in Turkey, including Ayrıntı, İletişim, Yapı Kredi, İş Bankası Kültür, İmge and Alfa.
The program will start at 2 p.m. with Vice Rector Erdal Erel’s opening speech followed by interviews and presentations:
2:30 p.m. Sustainability and Long-Termism (Fırat Akova)
3 p.m. Artificial Intelligence (Mehtap Doğan)
3:30 p.m. Analytic Philosophy in Turkey (Taner Beyter)
4 p.m. The Philosopher-Physicians of Ancient Greece (Sevim Coşkun)
5 p.m. Public Philosophy at the Information Era (Pelin Dilara Çolak – Dilozof – youtube.com/c/Dilozofelsefe)
At 6 p.m. there will be a competition on critical thinking and philosophical trivia, and at 7:30 p.m. a movie screening (Soul/ Pixar/2022 – Turkish dubbing with no subtitles).
This event will be held in Turkish.
