Following the invitation of Stelios Kympouropoulos, Member of the European Parliament (EPP, Greece), Asst. Prof. Lutz Peschke from the Department of Communication and Design presented the first results of the Horizon 2020 project PandeVITA in the European Parliament on March 21 in Brussels. Lutz Peschke is the coordinator of this project. Seven partners from five different countries developed a dashboard and a contact tracking application with the purpose of analyzing public engagement with scientific processes during pandemic times. The PandeVITA consortium found that, in times of uncertain knowledge like during the pandemic, it is vital to include the public in the knowledge exchange processes at an early stage. Otherwise, knowledge acquired by citizens runs the risk of being based on opinion rather than evidence. This leads to misinformation, which makes it difficult to gain scientific knowledge efficiently and to plan targeted measures. The dashboard seeks to facilitate collaboration between citizens, scientists, politicians and economic stakeholders. In April, the final pilot studies about the PandeVITA dashboard and application will be executed in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey. The results will be discussed in the International PandeVITA conference, held at Bilkent University on June 8–9, 2023. For further information: www.pandevita-ankara.eu
