The ÜNAK (University and Research Librarians’ Association) 2023 symposium took place in person (as well as online) at Aydın Adnan Menderes University on September 28–29. The theme of this year’s symposium was “The Future of Libraries in the New Century.”
Dr. Ebru Kaya, library director, demonstrated her expertise by serving as moderator, while librarians Cem Çağatay Akgün and Elif Öztop delivered an insightful presentation, “Digitalization Efforts: The Hüseyin Cöntürk Collection Example.” This contribution showcased Bilkent library’s dedication to advancing digitalization within the field of library and information science.
During the symposium, there were discussions on the ideas, experiences and strategies related to the development of libraries and information centers in our country during the second century of the republic. Additional discussions revolved around future preparations for library professionals, advancements in library services, concepts of equity, access and sustainability as well as the utilization of technology and innovations in libraries. Current developments in data management and information access were other key subjects of exploration.
