The Kalbiye Tansel and Çiğdem Barçan Tansel Thesis Awards, organized by the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences, took place on Tuesday, October 31. This year, the fourth year of the awards, the ceremony was held at the Oğuz Tansel Center of Turkish Literature.
The ceremony began with opening remarks by Prof. Aysıt Tansel. She talked in detail about the lives and contributions of Kalbiye and Çiğdem Tansel. Assistant Director of ESBE,
Assoc. Prof. Emel Özdora, spoke next of the importance of traditions and thanked the Tansel family for their contributions to Bilkent University and academic studies.
The two recipients of this year’s Kalbiye Tansel and Çiğdem Barçan Tansel Thesis Awards were İdil Ayberk (Faculty of Business Administration), for her doctoral dissertation on the housing market in Turkey, and Ilgın Efe Şenyuva (Faculty of Business Administration), for his master’s thesis on carbon emissions and sustainability.
