While celebrating the 100th year of the Turkish Republic, the 6th International Travel Expo Ankara Fair opened its doors on November 16–19, at the ATO Congresium. This year, the fair’s theme focused on health tourism and attracted various stakeholders, including tourism industry actors, municipalities from all around Turkey, embassies and universities.
The Department of Tourism and Hotel Management was actively present in the event. Each day from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., high school students visited the department’s booth and received information about the department and about education at Bilkent University in general.
The event also provided a venue for seminars and speeches. On Saturday, November 18, as part of the Bilkent session, Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Collins, along with Asst. Prof. Semih Sait Yılmaz, gave a speech on
“Stakeholders’ Perspective and the AI-led future of Medical Tourism in Turkey.” Asst. Prof. Eda Gürel delivered a speech entitled “Unlocking Cultural Treasures: The CULTURATI Project — Customized Games and Routes for Cultural Heritage and Arts.” On the same day, Rector Prof. Kürşat Aydoğan was the honorable guest of the Ankara Masası TV program, where he spoke live about the university and how it has evolved since its establishment in 1984. Later, Prof. Aydoğan delivered, in 100. Yıl saloon, a speech on the quality of education at Bilkent University.
