What do you like best about Turkey?
The culture.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
Yes! Some parts of the culture, numerous dishes and some words and phrases are similar.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
My friends and the bustling night life.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
Coffee Break next to the pharmacy. I really love socializing there.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
My favorite food would have to be yaprak sarması. My favorite part of Turkish culture is the fusion of Eastern and Western influences.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
Probably I will have opened a business of my own. I am really career-driven, so somewhere on the lines of that.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
Definitely learning the language and learning how to be independent at the age of 17.
What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
I have not travelled that much, but my favorite would be Ankara due to its wonderful museums and historical areas.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Turkey?
“I thought you are Turkish! You speak like a local.”
