On December 11, Bilkent University celebrated the 2023 Nobel Prize awards with a symposium. The Nobel Day Symposium, with the theme “Enhancement of Cultures of Creativity,” took place at the Bilkent Concert Hall.
Four hundred and fifty high school students from around Turkey attended the event, which aimed to engage young people in this important award and create a platform to introduce them to science and develop their interest and curiosity in science.
Within the framework of the event, faculty members from different departments of Bilkent presented on the research of scientists who were awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economics.
The highlight of the event was a presentation by renowned Swedish scientist Prof. Thors Hans Hansson, Chairman of the Nobel Committee for Physics (2021). The presentation included a live connection to the laboratory of Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Prof. Moungi G. Bawendi, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Students were informed about research at the forefront of science.
