The Department of Translation and Interpretation (TRIN) continues to uphold its reputation for academic excellence after a recent competition. Two of its distinguished students excelled in this year’s Young Translators Contest, an annual event organized by Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for EU Affairs. One hundred and twenty-five students representing 41 universities with translation programs, including 90 in English, 18 in German and 17 in French, participated in the competition.
Göktürk Sina Köme, a fourth-year student, secured first prize in French-Turkish translation, showcasing his exceptional linguistic and translation skills as well as his comprehensive knowledge of the field. Ece Bilgen, another fourth-year student, received honorable mention in the same language pair.
