The Department of Performing Arts premiered a new play, “Wounds to the Face,” last week on April 17. The play, written by Howard Barker, is performed as a junior project production. Directed by Geoffrey Hyland, Emeritus Assoc. Prof. from Cape Town University, the play will be staged at the Bilkent FMPA Chamber Theater on April 24 at 7 p.m.
“Wounds to the Face,” Howard Barker’s controversial and experimental work, explores the way in which we see ourselves and others through the character of the human face. Our complex and sometimes violent relations with our own physiognomy form the psychological link between related scenes of wounding, notoriety, shame and vanity in a play of kaleidoscopic energy and imagery.
The play features Department of Performing Arts students İbrahim Cem Civan, Yağmur Demir, Tutku Lal Demirci, Esat Mert Doğan, Yağmur Tara Gülener, Damla Köse, Lara Mayda, Can Doğa Patır, İrem Yavuz, Eylül Yolcu and Yusuf Ardıl Zümrüt.
The light design of the play was realized by Yilmaz Ertekin, players technician by Akın Çalışkan and technical assistance by Işık Kazancıoğlu, İnci Dikici, Sıla Karadaş and Derin Yılmaz.
Tickets for the play are available at: ticket.bilkent.edu.tr
The play will be performed in English.
