Giray Başbuğ, a third-year student in the Department of Translation and Interpretation, has published “A Collection of Love Poetry From the English Renaissance,” translated into Turkish.
Inspired by their eloquent poetics, the book features major poets of the period, including Thomas Wyatt, Edmund Spenser and Samuel Daniel. It also grants a unique perspective into Philip Sidney and William Shakespeare through retranslations. The collection includes the second Turkish translation of the narrative poem, “A Lover’s Complaint.” By witnessing that the only constants in the world are desire and regret, it explores the bridge formed by the shared human experience between people who exist in different points in time.
