The German Diplomatic Missions in Turkey, in collaboration with Bilkent University Department of Architecture, presented the thematic exhibition on the work of German architect Bruno Taut titled, “Bruno Taut and the house to live in: from Dahlewitz to Ortaköy (1926–1938): 2 Countries, 2 Houses, 1 Architect.”
The exhibition was on display in İstanbul, İzmir and Ankara starting November 23rd, 2023, in sequential order. All the texts included in the exhibition were edited in German, Turkish and English.
The concept, the scientific direction for the contents and the setting design were curated by Dr. Giorgio Gasco of Bilkent University Department of Architecture. The exhibition showcases a set of architectural drawings edited by the curator’s team and reproductions of original documents derived from several archive sources (Bruno Taut Sammlung-Akademie der Künste, Berlin; Bruno Taut collection–Waseda University Library/Iwanami Shoten, Tokyo; Salt Research Archive, İstanbul; Vekam, Ankara).
On April 24, 2024, the president of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, visited the exhibition. The curator and designer of the exhibition, Dr. Gasco, guided Mr. Steinmeier and the delegation of guests on a tour through the items on display.
