On November 7, the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) hosted the “LÖSEV’le Yaşama El Verenler” exhibition at the FADA Exhibition Hall. The event was a showcase of creativity and compassion, highlighting a collaboration between Bilkent students and the Turkish Leukemia Foundation (LÖSEV).
Students from six departments within FADA worked together to transform fabric canvases donated by LÖSEV into unique art pieces. These canvases, which had been prepared over years by LÖSEV volunteers, serve as a symbol of solidarity with children undergoing treatment for leukemia. The handprints on the canvases represent the dedicated volunteers who have supported these children throughout their treatment, offering both emotional and physical care during their time in isolation. The project is a great example of upcycling as the students gave a new life to these canvases through their artistic touches.
LÖSEV’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness during Children with Leukemia Week were amplified by this collaboration through the artistic interpretations of Bilkent’s students.
The exhibition aimed to bring further attention to the challenges faced by children in treatment at LÖSEV’s hospital and to inspire hope for those who are battling leukemia. Through their work, the student teams from FADA not only contributed to a meaningful cause but also continued to foster a sense of unity and hope within the community.
