In honor of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Türkiye, “The Radiant City,” a new theater production by Japanese playwright and director Yoko Oike, will be performed at Bilkent University. The play, a collaboration between The Japan Foundation and Bilkent University’s Department of Performing Arts, features second- and third-year students from the department. The production, written and directed by Oike, explores themes of identity and mystery, set in a small, factory-dominated town. It will be staged in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts’ Chamber Theater on November 19 and 26. The cast includes İrem Naz Aloğlu, Elif Ekizoğlu, Burak Toptaş, Mustafa Salih Altay and Sıla Karadaş, with translation by İnan Öner and lighting design by Yılmaz Ertekin. Tickets are available at bilet.bilkent.edu.tr.
This collaborative project not only celebrates cultural exchange but also aims to foster future connections between Turkish and Japanese theater communities.
