What were your first impressions about Türkiye?

My first impressions of Turkey were its vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and rich history. I was impressed by how modern and traditional elements blend seamlessly together.

What do you like best about Bilkent and Türkiye?

At Bilkent, I love the academic environment, as strenuous as it is, and the diversity of students. In Turkey, I enjoy the friendliness of the people, the food, and the breathtaking landscapes as well as the vibrant history.

Are there any similarities between Türkiye and your home country?

Yes, there are similarities in hospitality and the importance of family. Both cultures also share a love for flavorful food and tea! The tavuk pilav here and biryani in Pakistan are exactly the same.

What will you miss most about Bilkent/Türkiye?

I will miss the friendships I’ve made here, the loves of my life, Nasheet and Görkem, and the opportunity to explore such a unique and beautiful country.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

My favorite place on campus is the library. It’s peaceful, and I love the vibe there for studying and brainstorming and picturing a better Arifwala while sitting in the library is my favorite timepass. Arifwala is my hometown in Pakistan.

What’s your favorite Turkish food and why?

I love İskender kebab. The combination of flavors from the meat, sauce, and yogurt is incredible!

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

In 10 years, I see myself working in a leadership position in marketing or analytics, hopefully contributing to innovative projects on a global scale or back in Arifwala working in real estate.

What’s one thing you learned from Turkish culture?

I’ve learned the value of slowing down and enjoying moments, especially during meals or tea breaks.

What places have you visited in Türkiye, and which one is your favorite?

I’ve visited İstanbul, İzmir, and Antalya. İzmir my favorite for its unique landscape and beautiful weather.

What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Türkiye?

“Do you eat spicy food every day in Pakistan?” It’s always amusing to answer!

“You look Turkish how are you not?”

Ambitious, adaptable, and curious.

How is the studying experience at Bilkent?

It’s been challenging yet rewarding. The professors are knowledgeable, and the campus fosters both academic and personal growth.
