Every year, Oğuz Tansel Turkish Literature Research Center awards prizes in the fields of “Children’s Literature,” “Folklore” and “Poetry” in honor of Oğuz Tansel. The awards are given alternately in these fields.
Eray Alpyıldız received the 2024 Oğuz Tansel Folklore Research Award for his doctoral thesis, “Traditional Turkish Culinary Culture in the Virtual-Digital Cultural Era.”
The 2024 award in the field of Folklore Research was unanimously decided by the selection committee, which consisted of Metin Turan, Aynur Koçak, Çiğdem Kara, Cenk Güray and Mehmet Kalpaklı.
The committee assessed Alpyıldız’s thesis, prepared at Hacettepe University’s Department of Turkish Folklore, as an innovative and interdisciplinary study that addresses a new concept emerging in a new cultural environment with a strong methodological approach.
The award ceremony was held on December 26, 2024, at the Oğuz Tansel Turkish Literature Research and Application Center Library.
