Bilkent University is hosting its annual Zero Waste Festival this week. The festival began with a series of seminars on April 9 and will continue with a lively outdoor event on April 17 at the Spring Festival area. The festival will feature sports events, environmental talks, student artwork and interactive zero-waste workshops, along with a live Radio Bilkent broadcast. Chef Özge Şahin will conduct a workshop at the festival area where participants can learn how to make food and juice from waste. Attendees will get to witness a live performance by sculptor Doğan Karakılıç, who will create an artwork using scrap musical materials. The festival area will also include special corners for the exchange and donation of educational materials, a book swap area and collection bins for gently used clothing. Free water, tea and coffee will be offered to participants who bring their own bottles or mugs as part of the festival’s zero-waste commitment. A special ceremony will be held to recognize the students who participated in the Zero-Waste Logo Competition. Everyone is welcome to join this celebration of sustainability and community spirit.
