4 Sight: In Foresight, we look ahead together—bringing you the latest news, important campus updates, and a glimpse of what’s around the corner.
We bid farewell to the summer—some of us spent our days exploring new places, chasing sunsets and maybe even making a few wrong turns. Others found comfort in quiet moments at home, perfecting the art of doing nothing (which is harder than it sounds). Some stepped boldly into the world of work and internships, navigating new challenges with determination and grit.
Now, every road circles back here. Some arrive with stories to share: new faces join our community and familiar ones continue their journey. It’s time to say: “Welcome back to campus!” It has missed your footsteps. Here we are—somewhere between what was and what will be. So, what’s new?
Over the summer, several parts of campus received a fresh look. Buildings MA and G were renovated to create more comfortable study spaces and updated facilities. Çatı Cafe has ice coffee options! This semester also introduces new courses, including AMER448, IR410 and many others, offering exciting opportunities for academic growth and exploration.
Additionally, in the spirit of the Four Columnists editorial, here are four tips to help you survive and thrive at Bilkent—whether you’re a newcomer or an upper-year student needing a friendly reminder.
1. Never trust the weather in Ankara. It will betray you. That’s why we layer.
2. At best, it will take you 5–10 minutes to find your classroom in Building G. Maps are posted on the walls, and you can always ask someone nearby—we’re friendly!
3. Figuring out shuttle routes and schedules can be confusing at first, but don’t worry—you’ll get the hang of it in a few weeks. Just check the timetable on the website whenever you need it, or ask a friend (like I always do).
4. Bilkent cats are lovely—say hello; they come with charm and a healthy dose of independence.
This Four Columnists team invites you to keep these little tips in mind and enjoy all that campus life has to offer.
To our professors—thank you for your dedication and guidance as we embark on this new journey together.
Have a wonderful academic term, everyone.
