Asst. Prof. Sam Hirst of the Department of International Relations has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Shulman Book Prize by the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) for his book “Against the Liberal Order: The Soviet Union, Turkey, and Statist Internationalism, 1919–1939” (Oxford University Press, 2024). The prize recognizes outstanding scholarship in the field of international relations involving any of the states of the former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe.
