Flu cases tend to rise with the arrival of autumn each year. Personnel and students who wish to get vaccinated can obtain the vaccine from the pharmacy and then visit health centers. The flu vaccine is covered by Acıbadem insurance. Insured personnel can obtain the vaccine from the pharmacy by covering 30 percent of the cost.
The Flu Vaccine is Especially Recommended for:
• Individuals aged 65 and over (especially those living in nursing homes)
• Adults and children with chronic illnesses: chronic heart, lung (including asthma), liver, kidney diseases, diabetes, and other endocrine system disorders
• Individuals with weakened immune systems: Those with cancer or leukemia, individuals with immune system diseases (such as AIDS patients) and those who have undergone organ or bone marrow transplants
• Children and adolescents (6 months to 18 years old) receiving long-term aspirin treatment
• Vaccination is also recommended for healthy individuals who may transmit the flu to those in high-risk groups (e.g., healthcare workers, nursery and nursing home staff, family members living in the same household, etc.).
The Flu Vaccine is Not Recommended for:
• The flu vaccine should not be administered to individuals allergic to eggs or components of the flu vaccine
• Individuals experiencing a febrile illness should not be vaccinated until symptoms disappear
• The vaccine should not be administered during the first trimester of pregnancy
