On Saturday, November 22, Bilkent alumni living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) came together at a special gathering hosted by Consul General Onur Şaylan at the residence of the Turkish Consulate in Dubai. Rector Prof. Kürşat Aydoğan and Career and Alumni Office Director Tümay Öztürk Altaş joined the gathering online, an event which welcomed around 60 alumni.
In his address, Rector Aydoğan noted that, according to the university’s alumni information system, approximately 300 Bilkent graduates are currently working in the UAE. He emphasized the value of the strong initiative and sense of belonging that Bilkenters have shown as they continue to organize various events in the region.
He also highlighted that, thanks to a fundraising campaign launched two years ago by alumni in the UAE, six students have received Support Scholarships. Rector Aydoğan expressed his satisfaction in seeing the same spirit of unity and solidarity continue through efforts to create new scholarship resources for current students.
