Premiered on March 25, the Department of Performing Arts staged its new play, “The Speech.” Directed by Faysal Can Dakni and performed at the Bilkent Chamber Theater, the production is a third-year project for the 2025–26 academic year.
Additional performances are scheduled for April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, and May 6 at 7 p.m.
Performed in English, “The Speech” is a devised performance. The production is co-directed by assistant director Berkay Şekerci and features Department of Performing Arts students Salih Altay, Yiğit Metin, Işık Kazancıoğlu, Derin Yılmaz, Sıla Karadaş and Azra Ceylin Okur. Guest artist Onur Dilek serves as movement director, and costume design is by Zeynep Sert.
The play is a community-based, improvisational performance set in a dojo, where six warriors search for the final speech they must hear before confronting the evils of the world.
