What do you like best about Turkey?
There is a café in every street with amazing coffee and a buzzing environment, and I never get tired of travelling to the beautiful cities.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
Yes: The people know how to have a good time, and the taxis are always late.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
The 2 a.m. chats with hungry friends in the dorm kitchen. We all miss our morning class without regret.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
The hill near the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. It feels like the highest point on campus, and from it you can see the whole city. It’s also freezing up there, which I enjoy.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
Lately I’ve grown quite fond of Pide! The variety of food in the Turkish culture never ceases to amaze me.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
I’ve not thought much about a job or a family, but I would like to live in a lively city somewhere in Europe and, possibly, write a book.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
I’ve put quite an effort into learning to really take advantage of the opportunities around me. Stepping outside the campus can sometimes be nerve wracking as you don’t have a lot of control being in a different country, but I welcome the challenge.
What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
I’ve only been to Eskişehir and Bolu. Unexpectedly, I really enjoyed my time in Bolu. The crowd was just right for me.
