Asst. Prof. Serkan Belkaya of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was awarded the TÜSEB (Health Institutes of Türkiye) Incentive Award based on his work in the fields of human genetics, rare diseases and molecular medicine.
The TÜSEB awards were presented by the Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, and TÜSEB President Prof. Erhan Akdoğan at this year’s 9th Turkish Medical World Congress. Scientists are honored with these awards for their significant contributions to the country and humanity in the field of health science and technologies.
Dr. Belkaya, who conducts research on human genetics and immunology, primary immunodeficiency diseases, severe infectious diseases and acute liver failure, received his PhD at UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2014. He was also previously awarded with the BAGEP Award. Before joining Bilkent University, he worked at Rockefeller and Fordham Universities.
