What do you like best about Turkey?
I like the greenery of Ankara, the architecture of İstanbul and soğuk baklava from Kızılay.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
Both countries are not that expensive to live in, and they are somewhat culturally linked to each other as well. I had a great time celebrating Bayram here, as the cultural practices are alike.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
I will miss the food made by my friends Ibtisam and Ibad, the view from Bilka Hill and my Turkish and international friends.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
I love the May Fest area as I have made many great memories there. I also love seeing the sunrise from the cliff before the Music Hall. I highly recommend everyone go there.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
I really love İskender and Turkish Çay. The geometric tessellations in the Mosques are very beautiful, and I like the culture of wearing Kolonya.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
I see myself working in an automobile company like Tesla as an automotive engineer.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
The language barrier is very hard to overcome, but I am learning Turkish day by day.
What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
I have visited İstanbul, Antalya, Konya and İzmir. However, I loved İstanbul the most, especially the Bosphorus Bridge.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Turkey?
Have you tried to bargain for a lower price at the bazaar, or are you still trying to understand why the shopkeeper laughed at you?
