What do you like best about Turkey?
What I like best about Turkey is its rich history and diverse culture. Exploring ancient ruins and experiencing the vibrant mix of traditions is truly fascinating.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
There are some similarities between Turkey and Kazakhstan, such as a strong emphasis on hospitality and a love for tea. However, the landscapes and climates are quite different.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?
I’ll miss the multicultural atmosphere and the friendships I’ve formed at Bilkent the most.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
My favorite place on campus is the library. It’s a peaceful study spot with a vast collection of resources.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?
My favorite Turkish food has to be künefe, and I adore the warmth of Turkish hospitality.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I hope to have established a successful career in education, possibly as a professor or educator in mathematics. I also aim to continue promoting educational opportunities and making a positive impact, both in Kazakhstan and beyond.
What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?
Initially the most complex challenge was the language barrier, but I’ve been improving my Turkish over time.
What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?
During my time in Turkey, I’ve had the opportunity to visit various places. I haven’t seen Cappadocia yet, but I believe it will become my favorite once I experience its unique landscapes, fairy chimneys and hot air balloon rides.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Turkey?
One common question I hear in Turkey is, “Are you Japanese/Chinese/Korean?”
