The Bilkent University Faculty of Education is working to enhance the digital skills of teachers to ultimately benefit 18 million students in Türkiye through the IPA-3 “Digital Ecosystem for Teacher Training” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNICEF and Bilkent University Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education. The project held its fifth workshop in Eskişehir with the participation of 100 education experts on March 4–8, 2024, to work on the contents of digital curriculum modules for teacher training.
Bilkent University Faculty of Education dean and UNICEF project leader Res. Prof. Alipaşa Ayas, Asst. Prof. Armağan Ateşkan, Asst. Prof. İlker Kalender from the Faculty of Education, Senior Lecturer Duygu Albayrak from the Department of Information Systems and Technologies and Assoc. Prof. Emel Özdora from the Communication and Design Department are part of the project team. This EU IPA-3 project sets a good example for interfaculty collaboration at Bilkent University.
Faculty of Education dean and project leader Ayas stated, “We are getting closer to the original target of the project. It has been a challenging but very productive time since the project began as our team has developed 10 training modules as well as sample products for preschool to upper secondary levels and in eight subjects from science to fine arts.”
The project is designed to equip teachers with the ability to enhance the digital skills of children and allow students to reach their full potential. It will benefit students from grades K–12.
