What were your first impressions about Türkiye?
I was honestly impressed by its rich culture, history and stunning landscapes. It beautifully blends Eastern and Western influences.
What do you like best about Bilkent and Türkiye?
The vibe; I feel at home.
Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?
They both have beautiful landscapes. If you compare the northern areas of Pakistan and some of the beautiful cities of Turkey, you’ll realize that they both have captivating beauty.
What will you miss most about Bilkent/Türkiye?
Campus life, dorm life and my friends.
What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?
Bilka hill. It’s where I met all my friends, and we have a lot of memories there.
What’s your favorite Turkish food and why?
I’d say one of the standout Turkish dishes has to be kebabs. They’re so flavorful and come in various styles, like adana and shish.
Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I expect to use the knowledge I gain from my Bilkent experience to have a successful career as an entrepreneur.
What’s one thing you learned from Turkish culture?
One thing that I’ve learned from Turkish culture and Pakistani culture is the importance of hospitality. The tradition of welcoming guests warmly and offering food and drinks reflects a deep sense of community and connection.
What places have you visited in Türkiye, and which one is your favorite?
I have visited İstanbul, Konya, Cappadocia, Antalya, Marmaris, Bolu, Nallıhan and Fethiye. My favorite is Marmaris.
What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Türkiye?
People tend to ask about my home country and Bilkent University a lot when I travel around Turkey.
