In an event organized by the Bilkent Marketing Club, Bilkent University recently hosted two European champions, Yusuf Dikeç and Şevval İlayda Tarhan. Dikeç and Tarhan are accomplished Turkish sports shooters, and they met with students at the Mithat Çoruh Auditorium on March 17.
The event provided an inspiring opportunity for students to hear firsthand about the dedication and perseverance behind the athletes’ remarkable achievements.
Dikeç shared his journey to success, emphasizing that his triumph did not come overnight. With over twenty years of hard work and commitment, he highlighted the importance of persistence and focus in reaching one’s goals. He also advised students to find a source of motivation for their ambitions and to stay disciplined, stressing that success does not come without effort and determination.
Similarly, Tarhan reflected on her own experiences, recalling how she balanced a rigorous study schedule and intense training during her university entrance exam preparation. She explained how, with only four hours of sleep a night, she managed to excel both academically and athletically, ultimately reaching the heights of European competition.
